Endodontic treatment commonly known as root canal treatment, is a branch of dentistry dealing with diseases of the dental pulp. In order to properly understand the root canal treatment we must realize that it involves treating the tooth part we cannot see- the root. It is performed when the pulp becomes inflamed or infected, for whatever reason. Even dental trauma may result in a need for endodontic treatment.
